RX580 clockrate question

Hi there,

So some of you might know I'm looking into a new graphics card. I've made up my choice.

Would like to go for an RX 580 card. At first I thought the ASUS Dual OC was good but then I noticed something which made me doubt if it's going to be enough, the clocksrate. The ASUS Dual one says it has 1380Mhz boost.

Would like to run upcomming games such as "shadow of the tomb raider" and "Battlefield V" on max settings 1080p60hz, 40+FPS. I am going to upgrade to a 144hz monitor later on.

I saw this one:

Is this ASUS dual card going to be enough for these games?

1380mhz and 1411mhz like in the video are pretty good and mainstream for the rx 580.

It will be enough for those games paired with a half descent cpu. I play BF1 mostly med and some high settings 50-65 fps with my CPU and GPU pretty much pegged 100%.

It looks like you have an i7 6700. That would be a good cpu to pair as you have already concluded. With you 144hz monitor you will not be able to achieve 144fps all the time at high settings. You will have to lower your settings or lower your refresh rate to prevent stuttering.

Yes indeed, forgot to mention, I have an i7 6700 non k even with a booster (boosts up to 3.9-4.0 even). I don't know at which clockrate this 580 comes. It has OC mode but wanna OC safely ofcourse, with an app. That's why I wanted to ask this.

And I already know about that 144fps. As long as I can game on a smooth 100FPS online, I don't mind gaming at lower settings. Going with a freesync as well btw, but that's all for later. My gpu comes first as I game now on 1080p60hz. But it's a TV, which is apperantly bad, so looking out for a monitor some time eventually.

Might be waiting for black friday even.

Anyway, thanks for the answer!

fortunately freesync displays are fairly priced. I am shopping for a 75-100hz freesync display as well.

Now that you mention it, 75hz freesync 1ms, is that enough? Or should I buy a 144hz 1ms? Do wanna game at 100 fps as stated in previous threads, my i7 6700 doesn't allow more then 100 fps.
