Hey folks,

I'm currently looking to upgrade my system of over 3 years as I believe my PC is bottlenecked, its performance is terrible in almost every game I play despite playing on the lowest possible settings. Am I correct in thinking that my GPU requires an upgrade? Here are my specs:

GTX 750Ti

AMD FX-8350 Eight-core

8GB RAM

All advice is appreciated.

What is your budget for upgrading?

A graphics card would help, I recommend a 970 on the high end. The fx has worse single threaded than sandy/ivy bridge on the Intel side, so keep in mind the age of the CPU with your upgrades. Additionally, a 970 would carry over nicely if you eventually upgrade the CPU, like to an i7 7700k.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?

PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

If you only want to buy new parts, however, I'd say go with a GTX 1060 or RX 580, depending on prices in your country. If that's too expensive, go for a GTX 1050 TI or a RX 570.

If I were to upgrade to a GTX 1060 or 1050Ti would there be a considerate performance increase?

From the 750 ti? Yes. From the 970? Definitely not. Warranty is good though.

Yes. But look at rx580 first, it has the same performance as gtx 1060, but it has some crazy deals going on, i have seen it for as low as 200€, while gtx 1060 is 265€. So look around , and get whats cheapest. A 1060 6gb or rx 580.

I only see your reply if you @ me.

Ah okay. I'm leaning towards either the 970 or 1060. Any notable differences between the two?

Ideally you go for the 1060 6gb, which has more vram than the 970 but will be more expensive, and will serve up a little more performance, but on this platform the difference will be negligible. The 1060 3gb will be inferior but not drastically so.

The 1060 or the rx580 are a little better than gtx 980, so i would say they are worth it over the gtx 970.
