Upgrading a Laptop

A friend of mine told me he'd like to upgrade his laptop since it's slow and he can't afford a whole new one.

 

Laptop: TOSHIBA Satellite C55D-B5310

 

I thought we could upgrade his HDD to an SSD, and add another 4GB RAM stick.

1.- Regarding the SSD, would any 2.5'' SATA III fit in? or what kind of SSD should we look for?

 

2.- What's the max height that would fit?

3.- His laptop has a single 4GB DDR3L 1600 Mhz, we want another 4GB stick, what RAM voltage? is it 1.35v?

Any 2.5 inch will do, I don't think it has M.2 slot

Usually 7.5 mm

That SSD is compatible but it's a bad model

If I remembered correctly it's 1.35V for DDR3L

RAM is RAM, just get the cheapest one with same frequency and timings, should work fine
