it depends. sometimes it's fine, but expect to have to reinstall.

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

if it is a OS it is highly recommend and is easier to just reinstall it. however you can go to devices after the upgrade and show disconnected and uninstall those and than install the mobo and cpu drivers.

 

if any other drive you will be fine
