Weird diskmark results with MX200

I think the results I'm getting with CrystalDiskMark are odd.

 

The Seq. numbers are out there.  Any ideas?

Yes that is very ODD as the max a SATA SSD can do is 550MB/s. Is this a NVME drive or a SATA drive

It's a SATA drive.

Have you installed Crucial's software?

 

If you have it has an option to use your RAM as a cache for the SSD, so that is what is producing those way higher than they should be results.

Yeah this is typical for software RAM caching.

so basically it is a software version of the ??optane/optron?? drive.. I was going to consider getting that in the future but I think a partition of a 970evo would probably do the same thing for my steam lib.

Well, they're both caching... just this is using system RAM for the cache (which is even faster than optane).

 

It gives really great benchmark numbers, but the real-world improvement won't be that noticeable. Since system RAM could potentially lose data if you had a power interruption at the wrong time, I would actually recommend disabling it. Optane doesn't have that problem as it stores data without being powered.
