What do you use your PC for, mostly? Gaming? Rendering? And if you are gaming, what resolution, framerate, and settings do you target?

P.S, what's your budget?

New Intel CPUs in a little while, might as well wait for those

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?

I completely understand that you don't want to go with a RTX 2080 TI. I know parts that can give you high framerates on high settings, however, I have to ask again, what is your budget?

Budget is not the problem here, I have 144hz monitor and i play on 1980 x 1080 resolution. I am from Slovakia.

Then wait for the intel 9th gen, and buy 2 2080tis with a 4k 144hz display

Aight aight  :D This aint about the budget I just wanna buy a single 2080 with some cpu, mobo and psu. That's all. ^^

Then you clearly have some kind of budget you need to hit and should mention it.

You don't need a 2080 to do 1080p 144hz gaming, would be overkill and a waste of money, a 980ti/1070 or 1070ti or 1080 is a bit overkill for that.

Probably want to wait for intel 9th gen CPUs coming soonish, or just buy a cheap/effective R5 2600 + ASrock Pro4 B450 or MSI Tomahawk B450 board.

I mean, I can afford any combination of 2080, cpu, mobo and psu. I just want to know what would go well together. And i am the type of person who has less than 120 fps then gets irritated since i am used to playing games such as ow on quite high fps along with 144hz monitor. So if it drops below some certain point i can see it and it sucks. And when playing new games its even worse i have to minimize the graphic settings and wont even push it over 90 fps. So that's why i want an upgrade.

edit: + i would rather stick to intel if possible

Just wait for the 9th gen 8 core and Z390 motherboards.Though there won't be an 8700K replacement because they still want to sell 8700Ks to people.

The 8700K is likely fine, but runs 15-20C hotter due to the TIM under the IHS. 9th gen CPUs are going to be soldered so they'll be easier to cool out of the box and may overclock slightly higher than 8th gen.

Or Ryzen will also be fine and is likely half the price of the equivilant intel CPU with 80% of the performance.

If you get an 8700K, get a Z370 motherboard to take advantage of overclocking, and as for the PSU, the bare minimum would be something that is 450W, but I'd recommend a 550W, 650W at most PSU. Bonus points for features like being fully modular and 80+ Silver or better.

There's no point in planning a PC now if you're going to wait until november since everything will change by then.

The whole point of the CPU being soldered to start with is that delidding it becomes useless.

You misunderstood me. I wanna get it asap just that i don't want to wait for other stuff to be released unless it is really soon and that is till half of the November. And i've seen great results after cpus being delided. Don't care about the warranty.

ASAP but you're not buying the PC until November?

There is 0 reason to delid a soldered CPU.

No, that is the time i am still willing to wait. And it would be better to have it asap. And by deliding the processor i've seen ppl managed to cool the cpu down by around 15 degrees.

edit: I know you are talking about the new generation of cpus. But i was still talking about the 8th gen.

The entire point of soldering a CPU is so that it already has the best thermals it can get.

The 8700K uses thermal paste under the IHS, and that's why using liquid metal works so well on it.

If you're willing to wait you should just wait for the 9th gen then and get the 8 core 9900K or whatever. Since it'll be faster than an 8700K and soldered.

Alright, i will do as you say since it makes sense and probably its a bad idea to rush with such things. Do you at least have a psu in mind that would be sufficient ?

My recommendation would be something that's at least 450W. Bonus points if its fully-modular and 80+ Silver or better.
