Updating RX 580 Drivers via Radeon Settings

ShaunKL

I recently switched to Red Team from Green. The rule of thumb for nVidia was never to update drivers from the GeForce Experience as that often screwed stuff up. Is the same true of AMD and Radeon Settings?

I.E. is it safer to download the driver installer from AMD's website?

I have always just used the built in updater in the AMD Settings app and it has always worked perfectly fine for me. It could be a little safer to download the full package from the website and manually install it though, but I have never had a problem with the built-in updater.

I usually DDU everything and then install new drivers if I want to update. But those few times that I used the built-in updater it has worked fine.

I've always had more issues with AMD drivers than Nvidia ones. Only time I ever had any issues with Nvidia was due to overclocking a bit too far, or in games that just seem to hate overclocking.
