Can't pause windows 10 update?

Hello!
 

So I bought a new hp laptop.

It has windows 10 home and it needs to update to the version 1803, but the problem is, I can't pause it.

Whenever I click the "Pause Update" it unchecks almost instantly.

I think the pause only applies to updates inside of a 35 day window. 1803 is way past that.

go under your network adapter and set it to metered connection and that will stop the update.  you may have to completely restart the update after you turn metered off though.
