GPU - Waterblock Questions

Go to solution Solved by Technous285,

Reference *80Ti cards have historically used their Titan-counterpart's PCB layout, so a waterblock for a (Kepler) Titan & 780Ti is generally the same, the (Maxwell) TitanX & 980Ti use the same waterblock in most cases (such as an EVGA 980Ti SC+ ACX2.0+), (Pascal) TitanX & FE 1080Ti's use the same waterblock...

However, when an AIB vendor like ASUS, EVGA or Gigabyte make a custom PCB for a *80Ti card like the FTW3, then you'll need to find a waterblock for that specific model as it will typically have things like capacitors, VRM's & MOSFETs in different places compared to the Reference *80Ti due to resigning for different power flows compared to the Reference card.

Typically a company like EKWB will carry *80Ti/Titan waterblocks along with waterblocks for top-end custom cards like the 1080Ti FTW3. You can't use a waterblock for a 1080 card on a 1080Ti due to design differences between the two when Nvidia made them.

So how are GPU waterblocks categorized? is it by series only? size? graphics card style? or how?

Let's take a 1080 ti FTW3 for example.

Would any 1080 waterblock fit it?

Are there waterblocks for blower style / founder's edition graphic cards?

The FTW3 Is a custom card, and thereby you need a custom waterblock.
