Weakest GPU Possible For VR?

Go to solution Solved by r4tch3t,

Its probably the

Customized NEC V810 (NVC, P/N uPD70732)
32-bit RISC Processor @ 20 MHz (18 MIPS)1 KB instruction

From the virtual boy /S

Basically making this is a spiritual successor to this thread:

And almost all of the replies were to the effect of "You need at least a GTX 970/1060/ RX 470/480 and RX 570/580"

and yeah that makes sense I mean VR is fairly demanding and the Vive and/or Oculus are expensive pieces of tech and need expensive hardware to match right?

well thats what I thought but recently i saw these two videos:

running VR games like superhot VR and Skyrim VR on GPUs WEAKER than a GTX1050/RX560 which on their own are already below the "Minimums" for VR.

So that got me thinking what are the actual bare minimums for VR? thoughts?

The bare minimum for a comfortable experience in the majority of VR games is the official minimum spec. It's there for a reason.

Sure you can dial the resolution down to ultra-potato and still get an unacceptably low framerate. But that's not an experience worth having.

The guy in these videos seems to fixate on 60 FPS. But 60 FPS is unacceptable performance in VR, unless you have ASW.

IIRC bare min GPU for the Rift is GTX 960 instead of 970 after they introduced Async Space Warp (ASW).

| Intel i7-3770@4.2Ghz | Asus Z77-V | Zotac 980 Ti Amp! Omega | DDR3 1800mhz 4GB x4 | 300GB Intel DC S3500 SSD | 512GB Plextor M5 Pro | 2x 1TB WD Blue HDD |
 | Enermax NAXN82+ 650W 80Plus Bronze | Fiio E07K | Grado SR80i | Cooler Master XB HAF EVO | Logitech G27 | Logitech G600 | CM Storm Quickfire TK | DualShock 4 |

960 and 1050ti. I played on a 1050ti for a while... There's a reason they recommend higher. Even the 1060 wasn't that astounding

That's an F in the profile pic
