So i got a new headset from steelseries called Steelseries Arctis 5 and i can hear youtube and everything else but for example when i get to Fortnite for example i can hear the game chat but not the game itself

Well if you can hear YouTube and "everything else" except for Fortnite, than the answer is more than likely your settings in the Fortnite application. Try going to your settings and see if you switched anything. I don't play Fortnite so I don't know what the audio settings are for that game, but hey, maybe something accidentally got switched.

You have to change the setting within fartnite to hear your friends. It's not the headset.

You dont understand i can hear my friends but i cant hear the sound of the game itself

like shotguns and general sound

Oh sorry, I misread. Bring up the control panel then go to Hardware and Sound>Sound, then when the little window pops up look for your headset then set it to default.

If you disconnect the headphones, does the audio come out of your speakers?

Try different earbuds/headphones/headset/ whatever you have available. If you're certain that it's your current headset then I'm not too sure.

tried

its the same problem

If you did what I said above you have to restart Fortnite to start hearing from your headset, otherwise it will still be silent.

if i have a headset that has mic and headphones , apply both of the settings as defult ?

That one side only chat voice is likely one of those fancy "features".

YEah, I think it's part of the features, they call it " ChatMix" and you'll have the option to balance gaming and chat audio. Try doing this:

For playback options, in "Headphones" set as Default Device. Then the "Headset earphone" set as Default Communication Device.
