I got PIA about 10 days ago and I've seen people on Reddit saying not to trust it. After digging I found that it was something related to hiring this Mark Karpeles guy that's on trial for something in Japan? I don't know what to make of it, and I don't really think Linus and the rest of the group would promote something that can't be trusted.

Should I be concerned and switch to nord vpn or do I not have to worry?

They brought on Mark publicly after LTT partnered with them so don't be blaming Linus. I'm not really that worried honestly, he would be an idiot to do something at PIA after being so publicly persecuted because of Mt Gox.

I remember someone talking about this about a week after they got PIA as a sponsor:

As far as I know, there was no official response to this.

I was thinking of getting PIA - And decided to do a quick search up and see what it was about as compared to NordVPN and other premium ones... This is a fairly recent post so should this be of concern? Would love to see Linus or one of the LMG Team members officially comment on this (Of course in a professional manner as to where they wouldn't get into any problems, if they even can from a comment, while still giving as openly honest of an opinion/response as possible, of course lol)

When did they actually bring him on?  I remember a bunch of news "breaking" about it around the time of the Tech News link above (end of april), but (as I mention in that thread), he was already on staff March 30:

Wait what part of this is new?  I remember looking into PIA when the sponsor was announced and noticed some guy involved in Mt. Gox was working for them at that time already.

the articles were within two weeks ago o_o (although the sponsor switch announcement was at March 30 ?)

was there a delay of some sort?

idk but I clearly recall this and I know I'm not crazy because I looked back in the chat history I have with someone and I mentioned it to them that day (Mar 30).

You say after, but that would mean it was just hours or maybe even minutes after.  I feel like in reality it was actually long before even I noticed and it just hadn't made news because no one else had noticed yet.

IDK about when they did officially but I don't think most people knew about it until PIA published the blog post explaining why they did.

So, should i get PIA? haha

It's one of the best rated VPNs and with the LTT discount (which in the interest of transparency isn't unique or hard to get elsewhere) it's a good deal.  The other big name and imo the only one that's potentially better is Nord.  For one thing, they let you access Netflix through it, while PIA does not.  Then there's the fact of where they're headquartered if that matters to you.

I can access netflix though PIA. Unless you're talking about trying to bypass georestrictions from it.

Yes, that's the idea.
