Hey folks, so I upgraded to an SSD a while back and decided I wanted to use my old 1TB WD blue as extra storage. So I plugged it into my rig. For whatever reason, the computer decides to boot from the old HDD. So I restart, go into bios and change the boot priority to the SSD. it STILL boots from the HDD. I uninstalled the HDD in Windows. It STILL boots from the HDD. ugh. How the heck yo I just format this thing and get it to boot from my SSD with the HDD installed?

Some motherboards boot by SATA number. Make sure your new drive is plugged in to SATA 0; that may help. Also, it sounds like you still have an OS on the old drive. Instead of just changing the boot priority, do a boot override on startup, format the hard drive, and then restart. Hope that helps 9_9

Okay. I did try a boot override as well but no dice. I’ll take a look see at the SATA order. It’s an ASROCK B450 Pro4 if that helps.

One more idea - make sure you have AHCI enabled. Boot with just the new drive plugged in. Once Windows is loaded up, plug in the old drive and then format. It won't boot to the old drive if you remove the OS and format.
