Fan Controller or Splitter?

I have 4 fans total setup in my PC case, however my motherboard only has one system fan port. I have seen suggestions elsewhere of buying a fan splitter but I also read this can only support a certain number of fans. I also don't want to power these fans directly off of the power supply mainly because I don't want them running full speed at all times. I have seen others users suggest getting fan controllers, but my case does not have any optical disk drive spot to put one, I was curious if I even needed a controller or some splitter existed that could handle all four.

Deepcool fan hub. They won't run at full speed, but they will all share the same speed.

What motherboard and fans are you using?

Running 3pin fans off of a 4pin pwm hub would result in 100% rpm since the fans would receive 12v. You should use a normal splitter instead. Are all 4 fans GP-12's? If not, what else are you using?

Oh good to know, theoretically all will be GP-12's, right now I only have 2 but will be getting more soon. So would this splitter (recommended earlier) https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=1W7-001E-00001   not run the fans on 100% despite also supporting 4 pin fans?

The linked hub works fine if you're using dc off of the sys_fan header. I should've clarified that I was referring to externally powered hubs or using pwm in general.

Okay, well thank you for telling me that the 3 pins aren’t supported on some hubs. I’ll probably just go with that splitter.

They're supported in that they receive power but don't have the pwm ic needed to modulate the incoming 12v signal for anything but 100% rpm.

Better motherboards usually have 1A max rated fan outputs, which would just handle (leaving some reserve) four of those fans using normal splitter.

But as it's cheap motherboard and manual doesn't tell about max current, it might be safer to assume max current is lower.

(also its Sys_fan header doesn't support PWM control)

But different fans draw different amount of power/current.

For example this Scythe would draw 0,13A.
