Haswell are still pretty decent overall. If you can get a cheap 4770 (or K variant if your mobo supports overclocking) or a 4790 you should be fine still for quite some time

i7 4770: https://ark.intel.com/products/75122/Intel-Core-i7-4770-Processor-8M-Cache-up-to-3_90-GHz

i7 4770K: https://ark.intel.com/products/75123/Intel-Core-i7-4770K-Processor-8M-Cache-up-to-3_90-GHz

i7 4790: https://ark.intel.com/products/80806/Intel-Core-i7-4790-Processor-8M-Cache-up-to-4_00-GHz

Otherwise if you wanna build a new System (Keep in mind that you would need newer DDR4 Ram as well) you could look into either 8th Gen i5/i7 like the i5-8600K or a Ryzen System like a Ryzen 5 2600 depending on what you wanna do with it

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X Heatsink: Gelid Phantom Black GPU: Palit RTX 3060 Ti Dual RAM: Corsair DDR4 2x8GB 3000Mhz mobo: Asus X570-P case: Fractal Design Define C PSU: Superflower Leadex Gold 650W

If you don't want to change your platform right away, you should definitley look into buying a used i7 4770k or 4790k. Those are still very potent cpus today, especially once overclocked. If you want to get a new more modern platform, I think the AMD Ryzen 5 1600x is very hard to beat in terms of value for money. But keep in mind that you will need a new mainboard and new ram as well.

I'd say get a 4770k or 4790k.
