Hello,

I got some pc problems I couldn't solved or even find a reason.

PC randomly start to lag, just now it was lagging to the point that start menu wouldn't open after click and right click menu option appear only after 5 seconds~.

First I noticed that issue in the middle of the gaming just random FPS drops and stuttering without any pattern or amount(time) totally random. I tried to checking all monitoring I could gpu/cpu/temps/speeds/voltage etc nothing was out of the line and seemed totally fine to me. Im working with PCs for about 8 years now and thats the first time I encounter that issue.

I tried at first to update/reinstall all drivers, scan for malware etc stuff. At the end nothing worked I reinstalled windows and it seemed that it worked for the weekend, but today it happened again (while I was streaming). Please assist with some suggestions.

cpu ryzen 5 1600

gpy asus 1080ti

16gb ram

2x ssd 120gb

1tb hdd

newest one atm. I just though that its probably psu problem. my psu is 750w and system asks for like 680w. Could it be that ?

very unlikely, what PSU do you have?

and your system wont do more than 500 watts

i very much fail to see what is drawing 500 watts in your system......

ive got no data on the PSU as it is not in the infamous PSU tier list

honestly ive got very few ideas other than to start ruling out hardware. see if something as simple as moving the RAM around helps.

also what cooler are you using? because if you are running an OC you could be overheating the VRM causing it to throttle

as I said my cpu is not overheating read my first post, if to be exactly its barely hits 69C max at full load stream+gaming. Im not OCn it to 4Ghz only 3.8Ghz + it bursting it self to 3.9+ some times Idk why :D. Now  I checked my psu gives barely like 550-600w (in reality of written 750w) so still probably thats the issue.

what voltage are you running? im not talking about the CPU overheating, its the VRM on the motherboard.

also 550-600 watts is enough for a 1080ti/1600 system

ive got nothing else to blame than the PSU.

a seasonic FOCUS GOLD PLUS 650 watt can be picked up at quite a nice pricepoint. its a very good PSU for what it costs

I wont go with a lower amount wats PSU than mine if I got problems right now, will go with 1000w, it goes for like 120eur now. will double check tomorrow without any OC if pc will be stable then will need new psu.

wattage is irrelevant. the quality of the PSU is what counts.

check the PSU tier list. get something from Tier 1 or 2 and there is no reason to exceed 650 watts, 750 is max id roll with.

again, wattage is irrelevant, quality is what counts. and i can pledge your system doesnt draw more than 550 watts

sorry i forgot to post the tier list.

not on the PSU tier list as far as i can see. pick something from Tier 1 or 2

again, wattage is irrelavant. 650 watts and you are good for 98% of systems out there. only SLI needs 850+watts

just had look at the PSU.

not worth it for what it is.

its an older design from 2014 (standards change) and is not fully modular.

a seasonic FOCUS GOLD PLUS 650 watts (or 750 or 850 if you still want to be persistant on wattage) will be a very good buy without paying a hefty premium.

i do build suggestions all the time. you do not need more than 650 watts

Ik, the linked PSU is as far as i know better. You dont need more than 650 watts and could manage with 550 watts

will take a look at it, but are u sure that 650w is enough? as mine psu give 648w true and it seems to be not enough (if psu is the problem)
