I have a Dell Netextreme II Rk375 10g card I am trying to get connected on my plex/samba server. I have narrowed it down to what I believe is a driver issue not allow the card to read TCP/IP protocal on the system. I went to Qlogic and found the driver I need for the card and downloaded it. It is both in a tar ball and rpm format the problem is I have no idea how to get the drivers on the system from here. I was hope for a executable file (naive I know) but could not find one and I have no idea how to proceed from here can someone help me please. Ubuntu 10.04 LTS. Hp xw8600 workstation. I am only trying to set up a direct connection between my Gaming rig and the server.

You should check the Linux Kernel version that is supported by the driver and make sure you use that version or maybe newer but you can obly be sure it will work on the version listed.

Why are you using 10.04? Its 8 years old(2010.04), has no support and your 10G card seems to be newer than 2010 so that may be why it's not working. Because the kernel that comes with 10.04 is very old and if the support isn't there in the TCP/IP stack etc. then it will never work.

Try using the latest 18.04, it might just work straight away without drivers. I bought some random 10G card off eBay and they worked straight away without any drivers. unlike on windows.

Gaming Rig:CPU: Xeon E3-1230 v2¦RAM: 16GB DDR3 Balistix 1600Mhz¦MB: MSI Z77A-G43¦HDD: 480GB SSD, 3.5TB HDDs¦GPU: AMD Radeon VII¦PSU: FSP 700W¦Case: Carbide 300R

You should try a newer linux distro at first, its support could be already included in the newest kernel versions
