Hello all,

I am posting here today because I cannot figure out for the life of me why my computer crashes while gaming. I have worked with a lot of computers before but the one computer I cannot seem to fix is my own.

Basically, occasionally while I am playing a game, all of the sudden it freezes for a split second before my graphics card quits giving a signal to the monitor. I can still hear sounds from the game I was playing but I can no longer hear Discord and my mic seems to stop working as well, according to my friends. However, in the approximately 1 second between the freeze and the loss of signal, my friends tell me they can still hear me. (Said they heard me go "No, not again!" before dropping. No keyboard inputs work either. The only thing that indicates that I did not BSOD is that I can still hear my game audio.

Specs:

i7 4930k with Corsair H100i

GTX 1080Ti Aero OC (*Note: This EXACT problem also happened on my old EVGA 980Ti SC)

32GB Corsair Dominator Platinum 1866Mhz

ASUS ROG Rampage IV Mobo

2 Radiator Fans (Pushing Out), 1 Output Fan, Two Intake Fans

4k 60Hz monitor

Here is a list of what I know:

-It isn't due to overheating. My CPU never reaches above 60 degrees C and my graphics card never above 80C. I have MSI afterburner throttling my 1080ti to prevent overheating.

-Nothing is overclocked

-The type of game doesn't seem to matter, just has to be a game. Did it once on Game Dev Tycoon (hardly any load on hardware, also not in a call), but usually happens on TF2 or CS:GO.

-I am %90 of the time in a discord call when it happens, but I can think of one or two times where I have been playing not in a call where it also happened.

-Event Log doesn't really tell me anything, tried looking up every error that pops up. Only errors relevant are from me force shutting my computer down.

-It has never happened while not in a game. This includes time being in a Discord call while not in a game.

-Only has happened for the past 2 months or so. I have had the same hardware for nearly 3 years other than the graphics card upgrade, and this problem never occurred.

-Windows, Discord, and graphics drivers are up to date

My suspicions are with either Discord, as Discord seems to be the only thing in common with most crashes, or my CPU, hence me posting in this forum. What do you guys think? Any and all help appreciated.

You do have GeForce experience installed and running the latest drivers right? Also windows has the latest update? If so I know this sounds lazy but I've had some similar issues only solved by doing a system reset. I'd try other things first tho
