My internet has been slow for about 5 years. I had no way of fixing it and didn't know enough about PCs or forums to do anything about it. I thought it might be my range from the wifi, but we got a wifi extender and my wifi is still slower than any other. It's obviously not my PC because my laptop (but not my phone) has the same problem especially in my room or areas around it. We have also switched our provider and no hope (AT&T to Cox). I have moved my pc to all corners of the room and no hope. Is there a way to get faster internet in my room? I can't really do ethernet because there is nothing to connect it to. Is there a way to get a better range in my room? My wifi also likes to suddenly cut out on my main pc, but I am sure that's due to my dongle being smashed and not knowing how to replace it? I also want to mention my half broken dongle is the kind connected to 2 things u screw in and it has a long coord with a little dongle on top, but I forgot the name and have 0 willpower to find it.

TL;DR
My wifi is shit and I need methods to speed it up.

My dongle is broken and need a good replacement that has good speeds.

WiFi extenders can cut your bandwidth by half. Which is why you should not use them ever. USB WiFi adapters are also shit. PCI express or go home. About any PCI express WiFi card will work. Ive had luck with TP Link adapters.

If you want a more reliable connection you can look at power line adapters. How well they work depends on the wiring in your home. OR you can look at Moca adapters, these use Coax you might already have in the walls. The only down side to moca from what I read is a slightly higher latency. But WiFI itself can have high latency.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

That's quite the blanket statement, not all USB adapters are bad and not all PCIe ones are good.

use a cable, easy

powerline is just a scam

wifi is crap in general so you have nothing to worry about as high latency, cuts and snail speeds are normal.

I known people who have used them and they always sucked ass. I see so many posts here about them failing hard core. So I would never suggest using one.

Can't say I have had that problem except if trying to run them as an Access Point as they aren't designed for that kind of workload.  Although I learn't early on to lookout for ones with external antennas.

I do agree PCIe is best though, but you still have to watch out for what you are getting.  Having crappy dipole antennas sticking out of the back of your PC sucks, no way to easily adjust them for optimal reception on all chains.
