I'll keep it nice and short and get straight to the point.

http://psref.lenovo.com/Detail/Lenovo_Laptops/Lenovo_Y50_Y50_Touch?M=59440644 (i7 4720HQ, GTX960M, IPS FHD, 16GB RAM, 512 SSD Samsung 850 Pro ; no HDD variant)

vs

https://www.asus.com/ROG-Republic-Of-Gamers/ROG-G551JW/specifications/ (i7 4720HQ, GTX960M, IPS FHD, 8GB RAM, 1TB 5400 HDD + 128 SSD M.2 variant)

I'm interested in the package as a whole: design, battery performance, portability, screen and sound quality, etc.

The Lenovo seems like the better choice to me with 8gb ram more and a 512gb SSD, and it ends up being 30 bucks cheaper. JBL speakers sound like clickbait but probably still better than rog's. Though I read somewhere that the screen has like 64% sRGB coverage... Hope it was just a case of miscalibration. The only thing that puts me off is the GAMEResque look and huge bezels. It screams cringe imo.

Can't find anything recent that fits the same budget and still performs well. The ones I'm considering are around 560 USD used in almost mint condition. If you have any recommendations, shoot.

I think the Lenovo you posted is way better than the ROG laptop, because it has more RAM and better storage. For gaming, they should perform around the same but since the Lenovo is cheaper, I think it's a steal.
