FIRST TIME PC BUILDING

Hey guys,

So I am currently listing all the parts for my new PC and I have never built a PC before. These are all the parts and peripherals:

 

1. Intel Core i5-8600K

2. Asus Prime Z370-A

3. HyperX Predator DDR4 16 GB (2x8GB, 3200Hz)

4. MSI Geforce GTX 1080 8GB

5. Kingston A400 480GB 2.5'' SSD

6. Be Quiet! Dark Rock 3 Pro

7. Corsair RM750X v2 PSU

8. TP-LINK TG-3468 PCle Gigabit Adapter (Do I need this for ethernet connection?)

9. Asus MG248QR 23.5'' 1080p 144Hz Monitor

10. NZXT S340 Razer Case

11. Razer Ornata Chroma Keyboard

12. Razer Basilisk Mouse

 

Do you think these will work together or not? Is there any suggestion you may give? Any comments or thoughts would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

no you dont, ethernet's supported by the motherboard chipset.

You should definitely change a few things:

- Buy a Crucial MX500 500GB SSD instead of a Kingston A400

- Buy the Be Quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4 instead of the Dark Rock Pro 3

- Remove the Gigabit Adapter

- Add a 2TB Seagate Barracuda HDD

 

Other than that, your build is fine.

what? 1080s are still about $400 where 980 Tis are available as low as $200 on local used markets, I saw one for $150 earlier lol but just moved so rip me

+1 yep, although IMO the DRP3 looks better than the DRP4, but mounting zuccs

The GTX 1080 performs around 10-20% better in games than the 980 Ti.

But the 980 Ti is half the cost so... I guess it's up to the OP if he/she's willing to buy used hardware.

A used GPU of course offers more performance per dollar, but in your first reply you claimed that the 980ti is 'faster' than the 1080 with the 'same' price.

Thank all of you guys for the replies. Here in Norway, I couldn't find Dark Rock Pro 4, is 3 fine? Or is there a big difference? I made the other changes you mentioned.

There isn't a huge difference between the Dark Rock Pro 3 and 4, so the DRP3 should be fine.

And what do you think about the monitor and the peripherals? Are those fine? I don't have much experience with mechanical keyboards so I went to a local store and played with them a bit. I liked the one I chose but I am not sure if it's a good one.
