CPU overheating problems

Go to solution Solved by Enroit,

Thanks for the replies, so quickly aswell, but I believe I have found the problem. My h100i v2 liquid cooler has failed and needs to be replaced. I believe and hope this is the problem.

I have an Intel i7-8700k. It's worked great for me for the last couple months. A few days ago I decided to get a new SSD and psu. After installing these new components I was very happy with performance. The SSD I had bought had come with an optane as well so I went into bios to allow activation of this optane. After I had done this my fans on my radiator and case started going crazy and I checked my CPU temp, and it was at ~65°c. I undid what I had done in bios and hoped that would fix my problem. It did not. Being sort of knowledgeable on computers I took off my old thermal paste, applied new stuff, and reseated my liquid cooler. This seemed to have worked as my temps dropped to 35°c, what it used to be. Making sure that it wasn't a fluke I restarted my computer and agian the temps at idle reached 65°c. For the last 5 days I have been scowerring my own knowledge and this forum for any solution. Nothing has worked and I'm about to see if I can replace my CPU as I believe that may be my problem.

What do other programs outside the BIOS, such as MSI Afterburner, NZXT Cam, etc say in regards to your CPU temperatures?
