Hi, I'm looking to host FiveM servers on a server I own. Currently i'm paying $50 a month for a dedi but would like my own hardware. I found this on ebay and think its a decent deal and will work for my use case.

The question is weather to host it myself or use colocation. I do have a building I can get access to / setup the server there with a static IP however I'm not sure how I'd go about DDoS protection aswell as setting up IPs to automatically foward without messing up their network (which is a simple netgear router and cat5e routed to computers).

The second option, colocation, seems to be very expensive. I don't understand why I can rent a dedicated server with decent hardware for $50 a month but can't get a 2U rack to put a server on for less than $80. I don't really care where its hosted either.

The third option is something I just found, lease to own colocation? I don't fully understand it however, here's a link to it: https://www.empire-hosting.net/rent-to-own-colocation-hosting.html.

Its right in my price range at $50 a month and I think I own the hardware after a certain amount of time? I'm not sure.

Thanks for the help!
