Hi there,

I'm currently in the market for some high performance RAM, i've narrowed my choice down to the Dominator line of memory or it's more expensive brother, the Dominator GT.

The regular Dominator kit operates at 1866Mhz with timings 9-11-9-27 and consists of 4 4Gb DIMM modules. (16Gb)

The Dominator GT runs at 2133Mhz with timings 9-11-10-27 and consists of 2 4Gb DIMM modules (8Gb) of which I'll buy two kits, making it $70 more expensive than the other option.

The question is if the GT modules are worth the extra price, and why, because benchmarks show almost no difference.

If you would like to recommend an alternative, please do so (it has to be 4 DIMM's though)

Thank you in advance.

Timings 9-11-11-31

About 50 bucks cheaper than the corsair for faster memory. Your board might not support the speeds though so you will have to check that.

I was going for the dominator because they are easy to watercool (i got the EK dominator block and 4 heatspreabers for my B-day :p) and i don't wanna go trough the trouble of changing RAM heatspreaders.

My board is the Maximus V formula BTW.

Odd, your saying you're open to alternative, then negating it with having the EK Dominator block and heatspreader for WC.

Seriously, I fell for this marketing gimmick too, I have 4x 4GB Dominator Plat 2133mhz.....then saw benchmarks where there's hardly any difference from, say, 1866mhz RAM. The only thing going for such RAM is that they are so cool looking, and that's about the size of it, bubba.:D
