Hey guys,

Sorry if this is an easily answered question but I wanted your guy's opinion.

Lately my beloved Fiio 10k that I've had for about 2 years has started to act up. Every once in a while, while turning the volume dial all of the audio cuts out with a loud popping sound. If I move the dial again, or tap on the top of the device then the audio comes back.

I've tried 2 different cables into 5 different USB ports, rear panel of the motherboard, front panel IO, PCIe to USB, and all of them have the same issues.

Basically I was wondering if anyone knows of some software things I could try to fix this problem since I've already exhausted all of the my hardware options other than replacing the DAC itself.

If my DAC is to blame is there any thing I could do by opening it? I'm not very electrically inclined so I probably can't do much.

Honestly the only thing i can think of is a firmware update.

i got the FiiO X3K and in regards to the scroll wheel, it was very vague untill a firmware update fixed it (known issue).

perhaps somthing similar is happening, doesnt sound liek it but could be worth a go.

Does the E10k not have dedicated volum buttons on its side like the X3K does that you could use instead ?

No it doesn't have volume buttons on it, just one big potentiometer at the front.

I'll poke around the Fiio website to see if there are any driver downloads or whatnot.
