@Jurrunio @Taf the Ghost @Exprima I think I will go for the i7 and rx 580, thanks for you help!

i7 8700 and RX 580 might give you better room for future upgrades I suppose?

CPU will still perform well for years to come and AMD should release their new cards next year.

Ex-EX build: Liquidfy C+... R.I.P.

Ex-build:

Meshify C – sold

Ryzen 5 1600x @4.0 GHz/1.4V – sold

so do you think the 580 is enough for 144hz

After seeing the launch of these new graphics cards, i've decided I don't need one,

I will be running at 1080p 144hz and my most demanding game is titanfall 2 (high)

Should I get an i7 8700 and rx 580 (freesync) or i5 8600 gtx 1070

If you're getting a FreeSync monitor, then go for the 580. The 8700 will last several GPU generations and, while the 1070 is faster, the FreeSync will offset the issue in nearly all games. Unless you throw a 4k 144Hz display at the situation. (Which would cost you 2k USD and we'd be questioning why you didn't buy a 2080 Ti.)

Other tidbit is that AMD will have another generation of GPUs out somewhere in the middle of next year, which means you could buy one of those to upgrade & sell your current card to offset the cost in the future. The 8700 and the FreeSync monitor will well outlast the GPUs you put with them.

Also, until you get to the 144 Hz monitor, Radeon Chill is a really nice feature.

then the i7-8700 and RX 580 is better of course. Puts you in a better upgrade path because the CPU is stronger, and you dont have to take screen tearing.

Glad to help. Adaptive Sync is really quite nice and, as we said, you have an upgrade path you can exploit for at least 2-3 GPU cycles.
