Ok, so I just saw the new hue 2 ecosystem NZXT released at Gamescom... I am an avid customer of NZXT yet I struggle to understand the difference between the "upgraded version of the hue light-strips and AER RGB fans. As to the other accessories, they seem cool but the requirement of a new controller is unfortunate as they use the same connectors as the other accessories. The new controller has 2 extra slots and is made of anodized aluminum. From my chats with the support, the hue 2 is backward compatible with the hue+ light strips an AER RGB fans but the Hue 2 accessories fans and light strips cannot be in the same channel as the hue + accessories. A new feature with the light strips is individual control of LEDs which has been a feature I've been waiting for. After a lengthy conversation with one of their customer support representatives, I was able to confirm that the individual control extended back to the Hue + LEDs and was not just a hue 2 light strip feature. I've included the transcript of our chat below.

Overall I had a great experience with the customer support team which gave me a more valid reason to get the new Hue 2 accesories. Hopefully they will be as good as their price would suggest them to be. (134 for everything except ambient lighting.)

(05:10:39) Ethan: Are the hue + RGB strips individually addressable with the new hue 2 controller or are the hue 2 strips the only ones with individually addressable LEDs.

(05:12:24) Dominic: The HUE+ LED strips will work with the HUE2. The HUE2 strips will not work with the HUE+.
(05:13:27) Ethan: My question is are the hue + led strips I individually addressable through software or is it only possible with hardware on the hue 2 strips
(05:15:43) Dominic: Only with the HUE2
(05:16:31) Ethan: Do you mean hue 2 controller or led strips.
(05:17:23) Dominic: The HUE2 strips are individually accessible only with the HUE2 controller.
(05:18:09) Ethan: The hue+ strips are not individually accessible with a hue 2 controller?
(05:21:56) Dominic: No, but they will still work with the HUE2
(05:22:06) Ethan: Ok...
(05:23:18) Ethan: That Seems kinda silly since the hue + does effects that would require individual control and use the same 4 pin connector so why does it not work the same way?
(05:30:52) Dominic: I was getting confused, sorry about that. I see now what you are saying. Like each individual LED that you can change. Let me double check and ask if you use the HUE+ LED strip with the HUE2 controller if you are still able to do that.
(05:30:56) Dominic: Sorry for the mix-ups.
(05:31:03) Dominic: Let me double check for you one minute.
(05:31:04) Ethan: No pro let
(05:31:19) Ethan: *problem
(05:32:46) Dominic: Ok whew.
(05:32:50) Dominic: So yes you will be able to
(05:33:13) Dominic: Each individual LED will be addressable.
(05:33:16) Ethan: Awesome, sorry to put you on the spot
(05:34:18) Dominic: Haha, no worries. We are getting thrown a lot of questions on the new units, so it's a good thing.
(05:35:15) Ethan: Great to hear you guys are managing it. I've been a long time customer and I just wanted to make sure that my 100$ worth of light strips weren't obsolete
(05:36:10) Dominic: Yup understandbale!
(05:36:15) Dominic: understandable*
(05:36:32) Ethan: Alrighty thanks!
