RAM causing failed boot

Go to solution Solved by DEZIQN KILLER,

SO I figured out that my motherboard is only capable of accepting 1333mhz ram sticks, so I need to upgrade that first

Hello everyone, I’m new to building PC’s but I know just enough that it took me 3 hours to disassemble and reAssemble my pc into a new case. The PC, when bought, was an ACER Aspire M3970. It came with 4GB (2x2GB) of GDDR3 RAM installed but I decided recently that it wasn’t enough so I bought a stick of Hynix DDR3 SDRAM 8GB 1600 RAM. But it fails to boot when I insert it into the stock motherboard. Am I doing something wrong or what? Please help. A link with the listing of the ram is below. The strange part about it is that when I put it into the slot between my 2 current sticks, the PC boots fine, although then BIOS and my PC cannot detect it, but CPU Z can...?

I've seen this problem happen before. It's likely due to you having 3 ram sticks in your system, 1 of which is different from the other dual channeled ones. Removing both of the 2gb sticks will most likely solve the issue.

I tried booting with a single stick (the new one) and that’s when the system doesn’t boot

you are installing laptop memory in a desktop.

do the other memory modules look the same as what you've purchased?

laptop memory isn't as universal as desktop.

another is that the purchased memory is 1600MHz and the installed is 1333MHz, which can be an issue as the mainboard tolerance is prolly 1333MHz.

It’s  strange because the laptop ram is full sized like the desktop ram which made me think it was desktop ram
