1440p overclockable monitors?

I'm looking for a new monitor and I was wanting to get a high(more than 60) refresh rate 1440p monitor and I've had it suggested to me that I should buy a cheaper monitor and overclock it, rather than buying a 1440p 144hz for £300.
Any buying suggestions? Any idea where I can get more info on monitors?

nah, even if the slow ones can be overclocked they will never hit 144. More like 100Hz, and no guarantees on whether yours will do anywhere near that.
