gpu upgrading

Go to solution Solved by Semper,

So long as you're staying within the architecture family, it should be as simple as a swap.

Outside of that, it should be relatively simple, if not a little bit longer of a process; uninstall the driver (DDU helps ensure everything is cleaned up), reinstall your new drivers.

Windows shouldn't have an issue with minor hardware changes such as this.

so i bought all new parts for a new system except for the graphics card. my plan is to wait for the 20 series to come out and snag one of those cards/ grab a 1080 if prices drop.

however, my iphone 6s is super sluggish and the battery is terrible. i'm thinking of buying a more up to date phone but that would leave me with no money for a new graphics card. i could put my current card (gtx 960) into the system until i get enough money for a current gen card but i'm unsure of what that entails.

are there issues with windows when switching gpus and will other parts of my system be affected by the hardware change?
