HyperX Cloud Core Mic Not Working

I got a HyperX Cloud Core headset a while back, with my Lenovo Legion Y520 laptop. The headset was not the Cloud 2, just Cloud Core. It came with the headset, mic piece, and a cord that splits the headset cord into a mic and audio cord. It did not come with a USB 'hub' thing, which I've heard is quite useful, and I don't know if I need to buy one of the USB things to make the mic work. Any help will be appreciated highly.
