Well, your signature says you have a 780Ti, which doesn't support FreeSync.

EDIT: And a 290X missed that.

Have you got both in one system?

the 780Ti is conencted to my host OS, which is Linux and the 290X is passed through to a Windows VM.

In that case, you'll need to get access to AMD's settings control panel (Catalyst I think it's called). The setting should be in there somewhere. Some monitors can also require the setting being enabled on the monitor too.

As it's running through a VM, it wouldn't surprise me if there were a few issues getting it running.

You need to turn it on in the monitor settings, and you need to have Radeon drivers installed which I assume you have done. You should have Radeon Settings icon in the toolbar, open it and enable Freesync there, I included photos of my monitor and my settings as an example.

I think you only have to enable it on your monitor

Also you need displayport

my monitor doesn't have displayport, yet it does support it and i can enable it on the monitor...

First turn it on on the monitor, then turn it on in the amd control panel, then you need to use a displayport cable, and if it still doesnt work then running it through VM could be the problem.

What is your monitor?

I only see your reply if you @ me.

You don't have Radeon Settings icon? Have you tried searching it in the windows search?

Found something:

"

1.Leave only one monitor for this operation(HDMI)

2.Delete C:\AMD folder

3.Uninstall all AMD software and clean your system in safe mode by DDU program and install 16.11.5 or 17.2.1 driver  Try 16.11.5 first!

4.Then reboot and plug your second monitor ,checking that your OS has installed correct driver for each monitor"

Your monitor has it's own driver, did you enable it or are you using some generic one?

I was asking for the screenshot to see what you are using.
