Hey there. I have just been tolded that my i5 4960k sucks .... and more and less my whole build is very weak for 1440p. so I need to build a new machine and my budget is around 2700 euros.

I have been looking at something like:

CPU: https://www.komplett.dk/product/950613/hardware/pc-komponenter/processorer/intel-core-i5-8600k-processor# Maybe the one without K cause i am not an overclocker but i could be?

CPU Cooling: https://www.komplett.dk/product/945127/hardware/pc-komponenter/blaeserekoelerevandkoeling/cpu-vandkoeling/nzxt-kraken-x62-cpu-koeler# even if i dont overclock, its always better to run cooler right? i like the look also.

Motherboard: https://www.komplett.dk/product/956667/hardware/pc-komponenter/bundkort/intel-socket/asus-rog-strix-z370-f-gaming-s1151# I like to run some kind of RGB Sync but I have no experience with any sync

Ram: https://www.komplett.dk/product/916429/hardware/pc-komponenter/hukommelse-ram/gskill-trident-z-rgb-3200mhz-16gb# Is 16 GB enough now days?

Graphic: I know i need something from a new gen hopefully this next one, 2080 maybe?

PSU: https://www.komplett.dk/product/839799/hardware/pc-komponenter/stroemforsyninger/stroemforsyninger/evga-supernova-850-g2-850w-psu# i had this EVGA supernova in my last build and was very happy with it. but is it enough?

Case: Something that can fit graphic cards with 3 and cpu water cooling with RBG sync or some sort. Midi tower if possible.

Let me know if you have any PC site to buy from in europa.

Thanks in advance :)

Update:

CPU: https://www.komplett.dk/product/950611/hardware/pc-komponenter/processorer/intel-core-i7-8700k-processor# i think just go all the way with the K.

CPU Cooling: https://www.komplett.dk/product/945127/hardware/pc-komponenter/blaeserekoelerevandkoeling/cpu-vandkoeling/nzxt-kraken-x62-cpu-koeler# no complains about this choice?

Motherboard: https://www.komplett.dk/product/956667/hardware/pc-komponenter/bundkort/intel-socket/asus-rog-strix-z370-f-gaming-s1151# i dont hear you complain about the motherboard.

Ram: https://www.komplett.dk/product/916433/hardware/pc-komponenter/hukommelse-ram/gskill-trident-z-rgb-2400mhz-16gb# itsnt this the lowerest mhz for ddr4?

PSU: https://www.komplett.dk/product/913541/hardware/pc-komponenter/stroemforsyninger/stroemforsyninger/evga-supernova-850-g3-850w-psu# G3 instead

Case: https://www.fcomputer.dk/nzxt-noctis-450-rog-miditower-atx-1?gclid=CjwKCAjwns_bBRBCEiwA7AVGHo0Vp7KDXI3lnVPY767fN359Nsu9WODZRPfF8w9ra6oVwNtgFBIOLRoC_5MQAvD_BwE i think this could be the case, as i had been looking at https://www.komplett.dk/product/844260/hardware/pc-komponenter/kabinetterbarebone/midi-tower/nzxt-noctis-450-midi-tower-sort#

I assume you mean 1440p 144hz ? Do you already own the display?

What's your current GPU?

an i7 8700 non K for intel is a better choice, or the R5 1600/2600 is likely the best value.

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

For the CPU, I'd at least get the K version even if it won't be overclocked since you'll have higher base and boost clock speeds. Or an i7 8700K would be even better.

The cooler is fine.

Good motherboard.

I went with 32GB, but it depends on what you're doing.

Depending on the game and settings, even just a GTX 1080 is good enough for 1440p gaming.
I have the same PSU (Except the G3 version rather than the G2), it's great.

Maybe check out some of the Fractal Design cases? They have some nice stuff.

I just upgraded from my i5 4690K, 16GB of RAM and GTX 970 to an i7 8700K, 32GB of RAM, and kept the GTX 970 (though I've got a feeling it'll be leaving soon).

Specs: CPU - Intel i7 8700K @ 5GHz | GPU - Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming | Motherboard - ASUS Strix Z370-G WIFI AC | RAM - XPG Gammix DDR4-3000MHz 32GB (2x16GB) | Main Drive - Samsung 850 Evo 500GB M.2 | Other Drives - 7TB/3 Drives | CPU Cooler - Corsair H100i Pro | Case - Fractal Design Define C Mini TG | Power Supply - EVGA G3 850W

Regarding RAM, you don't have to go so high on the MHz for Intel, If you switch to AMD then your RAM choice is good.
Since you like RGB, if you stick with the rog strix mobo, then get an rog strix gaming gpu. I say this because I have a gigabyte aorus mobo but a 1080 gigabyte g1 gaming and the rgb just won't sync.

I don't know how asus does its rgb, I'm just assuming they have different software for each brand.

With the exception of Assassin's Creed (so Ubisoft games), you really shouldn't have any issues gaming on that system. Hitting the full 144 Hz on a really modern title would be hard without a 1080 Ti, but most other games should be fine.

I'd wait a week, as the 2080 should get announced to launch at Gamescom in like 6 days. You'd want to pair that with some 8700 or 8700k.

Okay that pretty close to what i have right now. i do some 3D programming not much renders but could see my self doing such things later.

I will w8 some time maybe even after its been release also to see how they perform and w8 for different producents, i like to get a 3 fans graphic or some custom water cooling on the graphic card this time.

There's also the 8c Intel generation coming in a few months, as well.

Your current GPU is just fine for the most part if it's overclocked to at least 1400+mhz puts it within 15% of a GTX 1080, just wait until like the 2080ti comes out for a more major jump.

Looks like Ryzen is about half the price, has about 80% of the performance, still going to be over 100fps in most AAA type games
