Switching GPU for Freesync

Hello, right now i'm using Palit GTX1070 Dual Fan for my monitor Acer ED273A that support Freesync. So i'm planning on changing to AMD gpu so that i can benefit from the Freesync. My questions now:

-what is AMD gpu that equivalent or upgrade from my current gpu?

-is it worth to switch to AMD gpu to benefit the Freesync (fyi my monitor have 144hz refresh rate)

I would go vega56, is it worth? I dont know, everyone has to decide for their own good. I couldnt leave my current setup for one without g-sync. I would kms

I agree with ZeouLs. I'm currently running a freesync monitor with an rx 560, and I just can't imagine going without it. I remember playing project cars 2, even in heavy rain where I suspected it would tank the fps it still felt buttery smooth. As it turned out it did tank the the fps down to 45, I just didn't notice it! As for an equivalent amd gpu, I'd say vega 56 though it depends on the game (in some games they're equal, others nvidia wins and some the 56 even wins over the 1070 ti).

Vega 56 is on par if not better than 1070 in many titles. With a decent brand like PowerColor Red Devil model, you can easily overclock and get as Vega 64 performance.

For the cost of a Vega 56 GPU, you could get a nice G-SYNC monitor as well.

 

So you have two avenues you can go here :).

 

I would make the argument that since you are gaming at 144hz, adaptive sync has less of a benefit.

 

I wouldn't consider the side-grade just for adaptive sync at that refresh rate, especially since Vega 56s currently cost as much as a 1080.

I'd totally keep the card as like the person above stated, the Vega cards just arent worth the inflation.

Vega 56/64.  Prices depending on where you shop are about the same. In some cases the 64 is cheaper than the 56.

 

You can also get a 580 and upgrade next year when new consumer gpu's are released.

Having said that, I myself did buy a vega 64 to use  for 1 year and then upgrade...

 

Sapphire has the best cooling when it comes to vega but their warranty department is kinda meh.

after getting either the 56/64, i will sell my 1070 to recover my budget

How much do used 1070s go for right now?

 

1070s are going for under $400 new right now, so I am curious.

be lucky to get $250 for used 1070 right now GTX 1070Ti is $300 and 1080 is $350 on ebay used and once add all fees+shipping $50 less.

alright i think its a better idea to wait for the new nvidia card too
