So I have been loving my SLI performance for the few games it supports, but still play several games that don't support it.

I've found that after disabling SLI I now get random lockups, not dropped frames, not any performance issues, just freeze for 1-2 Seconds, then right back to solid frames, in both games and desktop. Besides unplugging my SLI cables or leaving my SLI on (which bugs out my game overlays, and various other features) I can't seem to fix the issue, does anyone have any solutions?

Side note, is it safe to unplug SLI cables while the computer is running? If so that would solve my issue entirely

I think that's just one of the many quirks of SLi.

Ryzen 5 1600 @ 3.9 Ghz  | Gigabyte AB350M Gaming 3 |  PaliT GTX 1050Ti  |  8gb Kingston HyperX Fury @ 2933 Mhz  |  Corsair CX550m  |  1 TB WD Blue HDD

Inside some old case I found lying around.

Full system in profile if any other parts might affect this, full gpu specs are 2 EVGA FTW3 1080ti's One hybrid (master), one air cooled (slave). Hybrid won silicon lottery, Air Cooled lost, Hybrid pulls between 2050-2100Mhz Core, while the Air pulls about 1950-1975Mhz Core, they are sli's with two flexible bridges cuz motherboard lower slot is too close to case usb, led, and power button connectors for using my hard bridge. Another thing that might throw stuff is that the flexible bridges are ASUS (only cheap ones I could find for quick and cheap on amazon (prime 2 day for the win))

Had that issue, assumed it was windows or the ssd. Got a new one and fresh install. Hasn’t happened again.

It was getting pretty bad especially in desktop.

SSD is still fairly new, haven't taken much off it after installing everything, windows install should be clean, none the less thanks for the reply. I've discovered a jank but manageable solution, I just second disabled GPU in the device manager when not in use, for anyone else that does have the issue just make sure you check properties of the cards so that you disable whichever card you're not primarily using (in my case the second PCIe slot)
