Hi I'm currently thinking about upgrading my college computer to a gtx 1080. I found this one dirt cheap on amazon but I'm not sure if it'll fit in the case I've got. The case is the "HP Pavilion Desktop 500 Series" . I just bought this monitor to go with it so I'm pretty hyped . If anyone could tell me if this card would fit in the case or not that would be helpful. If not I'm considering sawing a hole in the back of the case lol.

Your biggest limiting factor would be your PSU.

wait 7 days more, perhaps you will find gtx1080 prices dropping if the new gen launches. Also you may want a good psu for that 1080 (do not look at my own psu, invest of a decent one) Also you haven't linked any gpu site on amazon and that pre-built link does not show the specs

the 1080 is good card in most games for 1440p medium settings 100-150fps, and they're going pretty cheap now, i got my hybrid 1080 for $400 not too long ago and acx's are going for 350 or less

I forgot to mention that I put a 650w PSU in it a couple years ago.

Yeah, you should be fine as long as the card gets fed enough cool air.
