Windows 10 SSD Move

Nathan5660

I want to move my OS from my slow ass HDD to my Kingston 120GB SSD. Same MoBo same everything but a diffrent drive.

How do I do that?

I know about the creation tool on the Windows website, and have a USB drive. I also have my Windows 10 CD that came with my pre built system with the key on the box. Is that all I need? Will Windows recognise the MoBo and be like oh yeah this cool. Or will I have MAJOR problems, also how do i deactivate or delete windows off the HDD?

Hi, so assuming that you know about the windows media creation tool what you could do is create a bootable usb and install it onto the ssd, meanwhile if you have a backup drive you could transfer all of youre files onto that backup drive, and copy them onto the new ssd with a new install of windows. To activate windows you could use the product key off the bottom of youre laptop (if you have one) or the product key off of the install disc if it has one and go from there.
