If i were to buy a custom built pc without any operating system could i get a windows 10 copy and do it myself?

Yes

Download the tool from their website, create a boot drive then install windows into your new build.

Anytime.

You don't need a key to install windows, you can activate it afterwards

If you download windows 10 and install it . You get the demo version.

 

Some stuff will be lock, and some will only work for a limited time. Like the updates.

 

You only need to skip or do later for stuff related to registration or product key.

 

Look in YouTube for-> Windows 10 clean install.
