Should I install Linux Temporarily?

Go to solution Solved by mgsstar,

If you want to use your computer, you could create a live cd of linux and use it without installing it.

Hi,

Finished putting together my computer and I'm happy with it. Small problem, I don't have an OS. I've ordered Windows 7 and I think it should be here about Saturday, but I'd really rather start using my computer now. I was already going to install Linux along with Windows, but other sources say that Windows should be installed before Linux. I wouldn't mind losing a week's worth of data so if I have to completely wipe my drive before installing Windows Saturday it'd be fine. Do you think I should go ahead and install Linux?

Sure why not. Just have a backup PC/laptop for troubleshooting and file grabs.

That'd be a good idea. So to do that do I run from the cd and never install Linux to the HDD?

I've never installed Linux before and don't know what to expect.
