Hello,

I am going to be a freshman in Fall of 2018 as a Computer Engineer. The college I am attending sent me a recommended laptop specs which is a i7 7th generation or newer, 32 GB or RAM and a 4GB GPU with 512 GB SSD. I know there is a lot of laptops that have these specs but I need to use a stylus to take notes too. My budget it around 1500$

What you are looking for is an i7-8750h with a 1060/1050Ti and either 1x16gb sodimm and 1 free slot, or 2x8gigs of sodimm with 2 more free slots. My Helios 500 has 4 dimm slots while the mainstream sticks to 2 slots for whatever reason. The 8750h blasts away the 7700HQ (last gen mobile cpu). 2 more Cores, 4 more Threads, higher clock speed. Oh and did I mention you can always turn off 2 of your cores for even more clockspeed

Do you really NEED a stylus? I would guess that the college knows what type of courses you will take and tailored the suggestion after that.

Chances are, you won't need a stylus. Not sure what courses you're going to take, but when I studied I only ever needed it for the math courses, and for those I just used a 2 dollar notebook.

And believe me, for subjects other than math, writing on a keyboard will be much faster and easier than writing with a stylus.

Acer Predator Helios 300 Gaming Laptop

ASUS VivoBook K570UD

ASUS M580VD-EB76

If you can add more to that that is a better option for the performance within the budget it will be appreciated.
