I am having a hard time deciding if the $200 difference is worth it between the 2

any opinions? Please dont comment about AMD cards, have had bad history with them, so I avoid them

The 780 is a better value but the 780Ti is 15~20 % faster. I would go for the 780

If you want the ultimate performance (eg. want to max everything at 1440p/4K/Surround) get the 780Ti. If you are at 1080p, or can compromise, get the 780.

PS:  But seriously, AMD cards are a much better value.

Had 2 AMD cards die on me and many other driver issues with games, and never really had that with Nvidia

I think I am just gonna go 780, as I dont wanna overclock much as I am running only a 550W PSU

What psu do you have? If you have something like a Seasonic 550 G, you can oc all you'd like.

A good 550 watt PSU can run a 780 or 780Ti fine and dandy with all the overclocking you want.

What are you temps on that?

780 Classified is $200 away from 780 Ti Classified on Amazon in US.

Well mines under water so I'm not sure my temps would help you lol. There are people running that voltage with the stock cooler so it can't be too bad. Mine hits around 44c at 1.35v.

If you can afford the 780 Ti Classified then go for it! I'd love to buy one myself but I just bought this one.

You are right that is whole other consideration.

Classy Hydro is at a whole another level of price altogether.

Yeah it is lol. I thought it's a good deal because waterblocks alone are freaking expensive, especially full cover blocks. The block alone for the Hydro's are like $170!

I got a 550 Seasonic 80+ Gold

I have the Bitfenix Prodigy case (was sort of a mistake if you ask me) so I just bought the power supply Linus used in his video, coz I was like fuck it thats an easy way to do it

Honestly for optimal 1440p performance you are going to want to SLI or Crossfire two higher end cards. In really taxing games such as Crysis 3 or Metro Last Light when you turn your settings up at 1440p it can drop you down to single digit frame rates or low teens in a single card configuration. Even my SLI 780's in Metro Last Light on High get in the low to mid 30's. Even with the GTX 780ti you are not going to see huge performance gains over the 780. From personal experience I was not happy at 1440p until I went to two GTX 780's.

If you are going to play at 1080p then the GTX 780 will be overkill anyways so no sense in a 780ti.

Using Mini ITX Motherboard mate, Dual cards isnt an option, and is way outta my budget either way

not to mention the fact that I would literally have to build a whole new computer for that

You don't need it. I run a single 780 Classified at 2560x1440 and it handles just about everything on max or higher settings. Games like Metro: Last Light and Crysis 3 are the exception. However, Metro: Last Light runs like crap even on dual 780 Ti's at 1080p.

At 2560x1440 the difference between high settings and ultra is very little. At 1920x1080 there's a larger difference, especially with AA. You can run no AA or FXAA in games and you'll be perfectly fine in just about everything out right now! I run no AA sometimes and I don't even notice a difference without it.

It really doesn't all that much with 1440p since the pixels are a lot smaller so there's less jaggies. At 1080p the pixels are so damn large you really need AA to try and smooth things out.

Some games it doesn't really give you a performance hit using AA so you can just run it. If you play a game where the AA kills your performance just run FXAA or no AA. It's about if you can notice it or not which I doubt you can or you really have to look hard at something to see it.

Easy way to test is to find something with a line, a fence or building, and stare at it and then go through changing AA settings. First try it with it disabled and then work your way up.

Chances are you run 2x AA or just disable it.

The 780 Ti is just odd because I don't think the pricing matches the performance. You're literally paying $10 per % increase over a 780! Sure it's nice if you go to bed on a pile of money but for normal people I think it's stupid to buy it over the 780.

I was going to do a Step Up with EVGA for the 780 TI from my Classified 780 Hydro Copper but it would just be stupid! I might put a Step Up in the very last day and hope the 800 series releases before I reach the bottom of the line. Apparently there's a really long wait list for people wanting to upgrade so it might take a few months.

It doesnt really cover this but what if you want to step up to something thats cheaper but better?

like lets say the 880 crushes the 780 Ti and is like 600 bucks (doubt itll happen but still)

It doesn't matter since they go by what you paid. If it's the same price it's a straight upgrade or if it costs more you pay the difference. The only thing you can't do is upgrade to the same card. So you can't go from say a 780 Ti to 780 Ti Classified. You can go from a say a 760 to 880 if you're within the upgrade period.

But I mean like in my example would say the 780 was 600 and 880 is 500

would they give you 100 dollars or just do it free
