delete Steam (steam://) protocol

I uninstalled steam but the protocol still seems to be on my system as when I type steam:// into my browser I get a dialogue box saying Open URL: steam protocol. How do I delete the protocol from my system the protocol must be stored somewhere mustn't it?

It's just a pointer/text string in the browser configuration, there is nothing "installed".

By editing the browser configuration.  In FF its under "applications".

 

If you cant find it, I honestly would not worry about it.  There is no code associated with it and it can't do anything on your computer.

No I need to delete it cos the protocol is messed up and is not opening games properly

If you cant find it don't worry about it.  There is no Steam/Valve programming associated with it, and it can't do anything if it points to an non-existent executable.

You need to clear out browser settings, re-install your browser, then re-install steam.  You have a browser problem, not a Steam problem.

Nope, probably under the advanced or dev configuration menus.
