So i recently brought a HP Officejet 8710 and set it up on my laptop, then i moved to my desktop to set it up there and tried installing the software through the HP ePrint + Jet Advantage software. midway through that setup i went to print and the printer could not be located so i got the full driver setup and installed it. it ran through all of the setup of the printer again

so my question is, is there a software pack that doesn't make me run the full setup every time i run it on a computer as this setup takes a long time where the ePrint method installs a software which than manages the printer, but it wont locate this new printer?

In my humble experience hammering printers to death because the manufacturers of these device are completely stark crazy mad troubleshooting network printers, it certainly is possible to use the Add A Printer option in Windows, but you will lose driver specific features if you do this. HP's software should actually let you re-add the printer using a shortcut in your HP folder of your Start Menu, or even ask you to re-add the printer if you try to open the HP Printer control panel / status program after removing the printer from control panel / Windows 10 settings.

Ultimately though, if you don't like the way printer software works, don't own a printer, because I have yet to find a printer manufacturer whose software division doesn't want to make me burn my house down in frustration.
