will an i3 2120 bottleneck a gtx 1050 ?

so i have an old system that i want to turn into an e-sports gaming pc

so would getting the 1050 be fine for games like fortnite , overwatch ,r6 siege on med-high and some times heavy games like assassins creed and the witcher on low-med settings

or its pointless with the i3 and i should go for the gt 1030 and play the competetive games i mentioned before on there lowest settings ?

thanks in advance

Rainbow Six Siege is doubtful, but everything else should run more or less okay, depending on settings.

I would definitely aim for a quad core CPU though.

No, I'm saying that you might have trouble running some of the mentioned games on it since it's not a terribly good CPU and that I would recommend getting a quad core CPU.

It will most definitely not bottleneck a 1050.

In a lot of games it will most definitely bottleneck a 1050, here is one example in GTA an old game at this point.

With settings turned down in Fortnite and Overwatch, though?

I was going to get a 1050ti but then i would rather have a 1060 to have a little extra horsepower.

Fair point, I just meant in general, I did find a vid for witcher 3 at 900p the gpu sits around 80-90% so that's not bad. Assassins creed will crush this cpu no doubt though.
EDIT: I should say I think the 1050 is a worthy card for this cpu tho at it's price point, wouldn't bother with a 1030.

What's your point, here? Just looking for clarification since I can't see any correlation between the topic at hand and your post :)

i have a i7-4770 and was going to do the same thing but decided to get a better gpu to not worry about the cpu, but then you have a good gpu when you upgrade cpu/mobo to maybe a 7th or 8th gen

Playing on a lower resolution should alleviate the bottleneck, I'm not sure if that will get rid of it entirely or make it more bearable.

His problem here though is that he already has a low end CPU, that will bottleneck most of even the midrange GPUs.
