Hello, I am currently planning to run osx 10.8 mountain lion, the reason is that i want to test certain softwares that apple has to offer, which only work in an apple os. I want to see how these software works and test them so that I know which software i should invest in. I will primarily try to use logic pro, and compare it with other windows based DAWs.

Anyways, I have an FX 8350, 8gb gskill ram, msi 760g, 1tb hd, gtx 550ti

I tried to google, but it seems I have hit a wall. Found about hackintosh, but they only work with the intel architecture. And needs us to get a retail version of osx. As I said, i will test and then buy it.

Now there is vmware workstation[or something similar, please suggest] which helps us run multiple os's, since I am new to vmware and the sorts, how can I go about running mountain lion on it? links are much appreciated.

And if you can give some better alternative, please write about them. Thank you

you are stuck with snow leopard with amd from what I read.

you have to use a modified legacy kernel on amd and that is only compatible with leopard or snow leopard.

I haven't managed to get it to even boot under a vm with amd.

if this shouldn't be here pm/comment and I'll delete this part.(or mods just delete)

you might want to look into a hackintosh distro. I used iatkos, it was pretty simple and comes with a few kernels to try out, but your video card doesn't look compatible.

http://iatkos.me/iatkos-releases/

hazard is another distro but I don't have any experience with it.

and I want to say there's a nawcom patch or distro that might help with installation.

Will work for electronic components and parts

Under virtualbox I was getting kernel panics before I even got to the bootloader.

I played with some settings and now I'm making progress under virtualbox with snow leopard.

I'll post my setup if it works.

EDIT: no luck in virtualbox, disabled everything and used nawcoms(sp?) kernel too.

I got to the bootloader, but froze at the shiny apple logo.

Will work for electronic components and parts
