Sata to USB adapter gives Code 43

Mike20865

So I purchased a crucial 2TB MX500 SSD and got an Apricorn SATA to USB 3.0 adapter from my friend. When I connected the ssd through the adapter I received an error and this is what it said under status in Device Manager:

"Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)

A request for the USB device descriptor failed."

At first I thought it was a problem with the drive so I installed the SSD in my computer and it worked fine. Then I tried connecting my old drive (the one I replaced with the SSD) through the adapter instead, but to the same result. Then I thought it was my laptop so I tried connecting it to another laptop, but again, to the same result. I've tried many many different fixes that I found online but to no avail. I also thought that it may not be compatible with Windows 10, but I asked my friend and he said he has used it with success with windows 10 before.

I have Windows 10 1803, with the latest update as of writing this (07/27/18) installed.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Mike
