HELP LAPTOP SCREEN FLASHING!

Random_User123

My laptop screen keeps flashing. Will it die soon. I just closed it and it's just flickering.
What do I do?

If you're able to turn it off for a minute and then turn it back on, and the screen continues to flash, that's probably either a graphics or screen issue. Have you ever bent the laptop in any way to cause it to behave like this?

To add:

If you connect an external display, does it flicker as well?

Is the laptop still under warranty? What laptop is it?

The laptop is not under warranty, 15hp82 should give you the result you need.

Forgot to ask, does the blocking occurs in the BIOS/UEFI, or only in Windows?

Only in Windows.

Do you have Norton A/V installed?

Ok So as the issue only occurs in Windows, it means, to me, that the issue is driver related in Windows, and it isn't Norton A/V which had a bug once, which was marking the display drivers as a virus.

So, I would go in Safe Mode with Networking (fail boot 3 times in a row, and it should start Startup Repair, only to tell you that it found nothing, and give you options. Look for "Advanced Startup", which will give you the option to go in Safe Mode with Networking).

Inside, Safe Mode with Networking, get the latest Intel drivers from HP website for your laptop, and install those. Restart, and you should be fine.
