Minecraft Issues

So i recently got a laptop and it seems to run minecraft at between 40 and 60 fps was between 30 and 50 but then I upped the max fps from 60 to 100 which seemed to increase it by a bit but further changes seems to do nothing

the laptop runs Arma 3 at 60 fps rarely touching 50 fps at 1080p with ultra settings so i don't understand why it cannot do Minecraft at a steady 60fps. so i was after ideas to fix this unless it is the way the game runs

 

Laptop specs i5 7300HQ, 8GB Ram, 3GB GTX1060, windows 10 with a 1080p display

have you updated your graphics drivers recently? Have you updated windows recently?

i updated all of the graphics drivers when i got the laptop (5 days ago) and updated windows 10 then as well

What settings are you running it at.

You sure its using the 1060 and not the Intel gpu.

im sure its using the gpu, it took me ages to work out how to disable the iGPU

running at 1080p @ 60fps, graphics is set to fast, render distance is 12 chunks, clouds is off particles decreased and fullscreen is on, everything else is on default

might be cpu throttling, running minecraft then showed a cpu usage of 80+%, is there any settings that lower the cpu usage?

Hmm, yea you should be able to get easily above 60fps.

 

But, You should Run minecraft, And open Task manager and see what is running, I also got a new laptop, While Overwatch was using the GPU in my laptop, When I played GTA5, It was auto set to the iGPU, Its a simple check You should see.

Most every laptop Benefits from Undervolting.

With my laptop temps droping 10/15C under gaming, And it is easy to do.

No, Open Minecraft, Go into a Game or A Server, 

 

CTRL + ALT + DELETE , Click Task Manager, Then click "More Details" at the bottom Left , Then go to the Preformance Tab at the top and on the left side, You might have to scroll down, But it should say GPU 1 "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060" and it should be at a usage %.

 

If the Intel GPU is under Load that means you need to switch the Usage to the 1060.

inside of minecraft it says that its using the GTX 1060 as the video card

task manager only says that its using the dedicated gpu, it has a shared gpu which is doing nothing, no idea what this is and the usage is under 40%
