CoD MW2 NAT Type Help

Hello all, I am trying to play MW2 on PC. My friend picked it up and was able to find a game or two and play but I am not... His not type is open but mine is strict. I have UPnP enabled, Forwarded all of the MW2 and Steam ports to my PC, put my PC on a static IP, disabled my firewall in Windows 10, Uninstalled my Antivirus, Factory Reset my router, Verified game files and even completely uninstalled it. My PC has 8700k, 16GB ram, and a 1070 so hardware is fine if that for some reason had and effect, and for internet I have Gigabit fiber from my ISP going to a Nighthawk X6 with cat6 hardwired to my PC. Game was bought on steam so legit copy. Was also able to play this game before. If anyone knows something else I can try please let me know

NAT type is controlled by your router. Since you have a Netgear router, login to your router, go to Advanced, WAN setup, and select the Open radial for NAT type. I would assume your router interface should be similar.

NAT type mostly affects the chances of you being the lobby host, finding lobbies isn't that big of a deal. MW2 is also not that big on PC anymore (sadly. I have 1K+ hours in that game) so where you are located can make a lot of difference.

Btw, if you have one DLC but not all, you're guaranteed to not find any games. Either have all or none at all.

Okay so I have an update, I set the NAT filtering to Open on my router and applied the settings then ran MW2 again and still got a strict NAT type. I then checked the diable SIP ALG box and applied them again and same thing. But I wanted to make sure it was my router that was making everything not work so I used my HTPC to bypass the router and downloaded MW2 on there and ran it and got a OPEN NAT type with the router bypassed completely

I am trying different firmware right now to see if that might help, I don't think the router is broken or bad and I can't find any settings that might mess up the NAT so I am installing Tomato on it now

I have none and found lots of games no problem.

That's my point, yes :). MW2 matchmaking works in an interesting way. When you have 1 DLC but not the others, you are pooled with people with exactly the same config unless you play in a party without DLC. Just wanted to make a note of that.

Then OP should uninstall the one DLC. Presuming it’s on steam or something easy to uninstall it with.

Never said OP only had 1 DLC, it's just something I've personally experienced. Also, you can't uninstall DLC for MW2 when you bought it. To get rid of it, you need to ask Valve to remove it (no refunds, of course) from your account.
