Hey forum,

So I've had a gaming laptop for about a year now, and it's had some major drawbacks, especially in the cooling department. I've been working hard this summer to save up some cash, and I think i'm going to sell my laptop second hand so I can build a desktop. I already have a monitor and all the peripherals i'll need, so I just need the tower itself. My budget is between $1800 and $2000 CAD. That's about $1400-$1500 USD. I prefer Intel over AMD, so I would prefer if the processor was from them, and I've had good experiences with Nvidia GPUs in the past, so I'd prefer that the GPU came from them. I'm anxious to start, because the market seems to have finally cooled down, so any advice is appreciated. Also, is it worth it to wait for the 11XX GPUs from Nvidia? Not sure about that.

Thanks in advace!

Wow. That build looks perfect. I'll wait for the next gen cards to launch, so even if I don't get one of the new ones, maybe the price on the old ones will drop. Thanks!

That build only had a 8400 so imo its a bit underpowered in terms of cpu also tiny ssd

For gaming, both the 8400 and 8600K are plenty. And the 8600K is just the unlocked version of the same thing.

The price for a 500GB SSD would be about the same as the storage I chose.

8600k has a higher boost non OC and a higher base non OC.

speaking of storage, i cant survive with less than a terabyte of ssd and i dont even use my pc for anything but gaming and video editing.
